Episode Notes

...and you thought YOU were busy? Movers and shakers, meet Jarrod Norris...you're new biggest inspiration. If you were anywhere near the heavier side of the Christian music industry this chapter has become you're new version of the six degrees of Kevin Bacon game. Jarrod Norris of Deadself Recordings has been involved in something you are into. He was Deadself Records and made a comp called "Blessed Be This Killing" off of which you've probably heard something: Eso-Charis, Seasons In The Field, Pensive, Shockwave, Societys Finest, Overcome, xDisciplex, Spitfire, and so on. Jarrod has been involved with Fighting Academy, Legions Will Fall, Indwelling, Overcome, Beg For Life and Beast Of Burden. Jarrod Norris toured with Living Sacrifice, Embodiment and Eso-Charis. He's the guy who put our that infamous first Eso-Charis 7". But onto the important stuff...

Jarrod's life totally changed the day his son Judah was born with Down Syndrome. He says it was then that he realized the calling he had on his life. It gets real from this point on...kinda makes music seem so irrelevant. He keeps a blog as a dad, teacher, coach and advocate for people with Down Syndrome and guest writes on Modern Day Dads. It's because of his son that he went to school to become a special education teacher. Then Jarrod won Teacher Of The Year for Yuma County, Arizona of 2013. (Obstacles don't seem to bother him very much.) This award landed him a position to be on a board of members to improve on a lot of things like the local playground. He now coaches for the Special Olympics. Come hear the story of the hardcore kid gone good. All his links/follows can be found below. Follow this guy. Be inspired to teach. To advocate. To include.
